Winter is a
dormant time; a time when we relish the blessing of a warm home, sheltered from
storms and brisk evening air. As winter drifts and spring finds its way, the
first twinges of the new season reawakens us.
Orange
butterflies bow to curtsying roses and bees court honeysuckle. I watch the
leaves of the willow tree cha-cha with the breeze. A sense of renewal and
growth are right around the corner. Women wear their flirty skirts and men play
football in shorts. Yet, for those of us with writer’s block, a thick wall of
ice isolates us from the new season. |

My just released novella, Dream, explores the life of Veronica Armatti, a married, infatuation addict. Infatuation addiction falls in the same category as food addiction, sex addiction, love addiction and other addictions that are normally a healthy part of life. What's the difference in, let's say, being infatuated with someone and being an infatuation addict?
The infatuation addict lives to be engulfed in the titillation and newness of an affair. It's an escape away from problems--those buried deep, and those as simple as a feeling anxiety. |

Okay. He proposed to me. It was simple. It was sweet. The
problem? I wasn't ready to say yes. I'd been married before and didn't want to
step into a repeat the same mistakes.
Time passed. Maybe a month. Maybe two.
During this time, we hung out like we always had. We were best friends for
years who'd become lovers—a love like never before—even so, I had cold feet.
I was lucky to have a man like Lloyd and knew he was the
one. He was. Still is.
Instead of telling him, yes, when I was ready to get
married, I decided to take things to the next level. |

Okay. I'm frustrated and annoyed. I have been trying to communicate with Kindle Select and I'm ready to jump off a cliff (perhaps a bit dramatic, but you get the point.) I joined KDP Select in Dec. This gave me 5 free days. The three month period went from early Dec to early Mar. I coordinated my free days with a Kindle Nation Day promotion. The first date available for this promotion was Mar 26th. Consequently, three of my five days were used in promotions leading up to this: March 24, 25, and two were used before this. |

I can't do it. I'm a disciplined person. I get up everyday at 5:00 and write through the day, usually finishing between 6 and 7PM. Bravo. That's discipline. I used to go to the gym daily and swim. Then I started to feel that going, swimming, dressing, etc, took too much time away from writing. I quit that gym and joined Curves, the 30 minute workout, 5 blocks from my house. That should be the happy ending. I get up, I do my tweets, WLC, Triberr, answer email, go to the gym, come back, write. |

Many years ago, my father decided to invested in a small, one-seater speed boat (1957) Technically, the boat sat one, but my sister, who was 4 years-old, fit nicely between my dad and the steering wheel.
They got quite a way out on the lake and were heading back when the one-seater couldn't handle two and began to sink. My dad, grabbed my sister and began pulling her along as he did a side-stroke. As he screamed for help, the life guard jumped off his perched and hurried to the bank of the lake. |
